Kim Young-Jin

Kim Chin-Hwan
Abstract
Direct measurement was performed on both sides of the 24 Korean adult fixed cadaver skulls at five points to measure the thickness of the calvarium used as potential donor site of bo graft. Age, height and sex had no statistical significance in the prediction of!calvarial thickness.
The followings were results:
1. The mean value of calvarial thickness was ranged from 5.90 mm to 7.08 mm, and comparison of the right and left sides of any of the points revealed no significant differences in mean calvarial thickness.
2. The frontal and parietal bones tend to be thicker as proceeded posteriorly, but there¢¥s no significant differences between parietal and superior portion of the frontal bone.
3. Mean of the outer-table thickness ranged from 1.35 mm to 1.55 mm, and mean of the inner-table thickness ranged froml.13 mm to 1.30 mm.
This study provides the clinician with a reasonable basis to obtain preoperative estimation of the thickness of calvarial grafts in the Korean adult at five frequently utilized points.
